David Hoag

For the past 23 years, Dr. Hoag has served with distinction in Christian higher education, first at Asbury College, his alma mater, and more recently at Greenville College. A highly respected advancement professional, Dr. Hoag brings to Trinity a quality of leadership that will continue to position the university for further growth in achieving our mission.
David received his BS in Education (1986) from Asbury College. During college, he participated in intercollegiate Cross Country and Track and Field, garnering All-District awards in both sports. He was also student president for Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
While working on his Master of Science in Administration (1990) from the University of Kentucky, David worked as admissions counselor and then assistant director of admissions for Asbury College. After completing his Masters in 1990, he became the director of advancement at Asbury and manager of their fundraising campaign, and later assistant vice president for advancement. David Hoag then joined Greenville College, becoming the senior vice president for advancement before coming to Trinity in July of 2009.
David completed his Doctor of Philosophy, emphasis in Higher Education from Saint Louis University in 2003. Hoag’s dissertation was “Evaluation of the Formal Assessment Process of College Presidents at Liberal Arts Institutions: Three Case Studies.”
David’s wife Joanna has also been actively involved at these schools, serving as assistant basketball coach at Greenville and engaging in mentoring and caring for students. David and Joanna have two children, Jamie and Joni. In his free time, David enjoys boating, fly fishing, biking, hiking, and home improvement projects.
