  • Understand the relationship between democratic education and inclusion.
  • Consider the ways in which inclusive schooling requires changes in curriculum, pedagogy, and school culture.

You will learn how to

  • Build and sustain accepting, open, and humane classrooms that welcome all children.
  • Help children learn to support one another’s learning.
  • Respond to bullying and exclusion in classrooms in order to build a better community.
  • Explore teaching strategies that promote engaged, interactive, and cooperative learning for all.
  • Use children’s literature, music, and movement to promote positive social interaction and build community.
