    In Memory of Peter

    by Charles & Dorothy Lamson

Peter was brought into our lives when his widowed mother married our son. From the very first day we fell in love with the tow-headed little 2-1/2year-old. His sparkling blue eyes and infectious smile brought sunshine and joy into our lives.

Peter had a very sensitive, gentle spirit and a heart that turned God-ward at a very early age. It was thrilling to watch his spiritual growth. In school his teachers and classmates alike were drawn to the considerate, caring little boy.

During high school years, Peter never wavered in his love for God. Vacation times often found him involved in some mission project. Whether it be on an Indian Reservation or on the ghetto streets, Peter was willing and anxious to serve wholeheartedly.

Upon completion of High School, Peter chose to attend a year at Moody Bible Institute and from there went on to Trinity College. In spite of his heavy academic load, Peter agreed to be a youth leader for Willow Creek Church. He volunteered hours and hours of time to work with troubled teens that were so much in need of spiritual guidance.

Often, weekends found him on the streets of Chicago, handing out sandwiches to the homeless or taking the little "street kids" for a treat at the nearest ice cream shop.

It was his deep concern for people, old and young alike, that compelled him to seek further training in the field of counseling. With this in mind, he started out for California to select a school he would attend the following year.

Less than a day into the trip, a tragic accident claimed the life our precious grandson.

Peter went to be with the Lord on July 2nd, 1995. Even though he was only 21 years of age, his life had already touched hundreds for the Lord.

It is in Peter's memory that we lovingly give this award. May it be an encouragement to all who desire to live lives for Christ and to serve Him both inside and outside the classroom.

The Christian Ministries Department of Trinity International University thanks the Lamson family for this fitting tribute in Peter's memory, and for enabling us to continue putting before our students the Christ-like characteristics we believe are crucial for people involved in ministry.
