Trinity College

    Athletic Training Accreditation

From the beginning, students in Trinity International University's Athletic Training Education Program have benefited through Trinity's partnership with Condell Health Network in Libertyville, Illinois. Condell's Director of Sports Medicine Larry Scire helped establish the athletic training major at Trinity in 1994. Trinity's program is the only athletic training education program available to students in Lake County, Illinois.

Students benefitted from the accreditation conferred on the program in October 2003 from the Commission on Allied Health Education Programs (CAAHEP). Accreditation of the The Athletic Training Eduation Program (ATEP) is currently through the Commission on Accreditation of Athletic Training Education (CAATE).  Condell assisted in the program's progression toward this accreditation and currently offers Trinity students a large network of internship sites through their high school and college contracts. This year's graduates will immediately qualify to take the BOC examination.

"Condell's internship opportunities provide our students with necessary clinical experience while they work under the supervision of certified athletic trainers. During their internships our students are involved in preventative taping, on-the-field evaluations, acute injury care, treatment and rehabilitation of athletic injuries, applying the knowledge and skills they acquire in the classroom," says Karl Glass, director of Trinity's Athletic Training Education Program. Students in Trinity's program have also completed internships for the Indiana Pacers, Chicago Rush, and the Chicago Fire, among others.
