2008 Timothy Award RecipientsTimothy Jager Timothy Jager was the 2008 Timothy Award male athlete recipient. Timothy was a senior from Tinley Park, Illinois. He played four years of Varsity football for TIU. Timothy’s football accomplishments include Most Improved Player (2006), Honorable Mention All-Conference (2007), Honorable Mention All-Conference (2006), four-year Varsity starter, and team captain (2007). Timothy was an education major with a 3.4 cumulative GPA. Viking middle school has already offered him a teaching job. His academic accomplishments include Dean’s List (fall 2007) and Academic All-Conference (2006, 2007). Timothy made an impressive impact on both the TIU and local community in his time at Trinity. He worked as a shift manager at Starbucks and used this as an opportunity to raise money and awareness for autism when he organized a softball game that his Starbucks would compete in against another local Starbucks. He served as a small group leader with the TIU community in 2006 and 2007. From 2004 to 2006, Timothy served as a Young Life leader and in 2005 volunteered for FAT Thursday. Ruth KratzerRuth Kratzer was the 2008 Timothy Award female athlete recipient. She is a junior from Los Alamos, New Mexico. Thus far, Ruth has played two years of Varsity soccer for TIU. Ruth’s soccer accomplishments include First team All-Conference (2006, 2007), All-Regional 2nd Team (2006, 2007), NCCAA North Central Region All-Regional (2007), NAIA Women’s Soccer National Player of the Week (Oct. 15, 2006), NCCAA All-American 2nd Team (2007), Most Valuable Player (2006), Best offensive Player (2007), and team captain (2007, 2008). Ruth is a Christian Ministries major with a 3.76 cumulative GPA. Her academic accomplishments include Kenneth Kantzer Honor Scholarship, TIU honors program member, Dean’s List (fall 2005, 2006, 2007; spring 2006, 2007), NCCAA All-American Scholar Athlete, and NAIA All-American Scholar Athlete (2007). During her sophomore year, Ruth worked with a senior high youth group where she led a small group, occasionally taught, helped with their winter retreat, and helped lead a thirty-hour famine to raise money for the hungry with World Vision. Since second semester of her freshmen year, Ruth has volunteered at her local church, working with grade levels 1st through 5th. She currently meets twice a month with 4th-5th graders helping with a pre-youth group program. Ruth was the dp3 on her floor last semester and recently became the resident assistant (RA) on her floor. In 2007, she served as a small group leader to her team. Ruth has also been on three mission trips: Juarez, Mexico, to help build homes Brazil, on a soccer sports ministry trip New Orleans this past spring break to help with Hurricane Katrina relief
