2008 Men's Soccer NewsJune 3, 2008: Evan Paur Signs with TrojansTrinity International University has recently announced the signing of Evan Paur of Orange, Calif., to a soccer letter of intent for the 2008 season. Coach Bergmann is excited to have Paur join the squad. "I am thrilled to have Evan as a part of TIU and the men's soccer program," says Bergmann. "Evan demonstrates a self-confidence that every coach loves to see in his players. He is technically gifted and has a strong physical presence on the field. He is also a leader who desires to bring the best out of those around him. Evan will have an immediate impact not only as a soccer player but as a member of the TIU community." Paur is not a stranger to success, having recently led his team to a League Championship in 2007 at El Modena High School. Paur was also the Vanguard Award recipient and his team's varsity captain. Paur will major in business at TIU this fall. May 28, 2008: Three More Added to Men’s Soccer 2008 Recruiting ClassDavid Johnson, Andrew Nyberg, and Kenneth Stoner have all decided to call Trinity International University “home” starting in fall 2008. Coach Bergmann foresees all three new additions making significant contributions on and off the soccer field. These three young men come from different high schools but share a few things in common. Johnson, Nyberg, and Stoner share a strong work ethic, are accomplished students, and all three chose TIU because of the Christian environment. David Johnson will come from Bradford High School in Kenosha, Wisconsin. Coach Bergmann feels fortunate that Johnson chose to attend TIU. “Having a student-athlete like David is a blessing for any institution. He brings a high work ethic, great ball skills and a ‘never say die’ attitude that any team would like to have. David is a great addition to the university and to the men’s soccer program. He is going to be a strong defensive player and will bless our program right away,” said Bergmann. Andrew Nyberg will join the Trojans already very accomplished as a student and as a Midfielder. While attending Calhoun Christian High School in Battle Creek, Michigan, Nyberg received All-Conference and Offensive Player of the Year honors. “I am very excited to have Andrew as a part of TIU and the men’s soccer program. Andrew has demonstrated excellence in all areas of his life. He is going to bring a tireless work ethic, along with a high standard of excellence that will make an immediate impact on the university and on our soccer program,” Bergmann commented. 2007 First Team All-Conference, two-time MVP, Captain, Best Defender, and 2006 Second Team All-Conference are just a few of the awards that Center Midfielder, Kenneth Stoner has accomplished during his time at Christian Life High School in Salem, Wisconsin. Coach Bergmann says that “Ken is going to be a great addition to the TIU community and to our soccer team. Ken has strong leadership skills and will bring a contagious work ethic that will impact us right from the start. He is a class act on the field and in the classroom. Ken carries a desire to be a servant-leader and to help those around him.” Quality, Christ-seeking, and competitive! It sounds like Johnson, Nyberg and Stoner are three good reasons to check out the Trojans on September 5 at 4:00 p.m. when they face-off against Hope College for their first home game of the 2008 season! |
